In Raipur, with the cooperation of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, we will establish agricultural development in our state to new heights. With the participation of agricultural scientists and entrepreneurs, we will make the lives of farmers prosperous and happy. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that we can see in the life of agricultural scientist Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, an example of how a scientist can transform the nation through his thinking and work. Dr. M.S. Swaminathan brought about the Green Revolution in the country. He made the country self-reliant in food security, so that India no longer needs to look to foreign countries for wheat imports.
The Chief Minister said that the esteemed Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi, has always placed the development of the agricultural sector at the highest priority. He has always encouraged and inspired innovation, research, and the development of entrepreneurship. Our youth are full of positive energy. They have new ideas. We need to encourage them, provide facilities, and address their queries. I am happy that you have created a very good environment for this in the university campus. Education is extremely essential for achieving new possibilities in life. Our country has been a world guru because of its education system. We need to continuously improve our educational institutions so that India can once again become the global center of education.
The Chief Minister said that the university has developed more than 160 varieties of different crops and more than 100 advanced agricultural technologies. The world is grappling with the dangers of climate change, and its greatest impact will be on the agricultural sector. It is a matter of happiness that the scientists of the agricultural university’s research centers are developing seeds that can combat climate change. The university has a strong network of agricultural colleges, research centers, and agricultural science centers from Balrampur to Sukma, with whose help the university is playing a significant role in agricultural development in Chhattisgarh state.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that considering agriculture as a catalyst for the progress of the state, let us resolve to make this university the harbinger of the country’s second Green Revolution. To get the full benefit of the good research happening in the research centers, it will have to reach the farmers. Chhattisgarh’s Agricultural University has 23,250 germplasms of paddy, which is the second-highest number in the world. In addition, about 6000 varieties of other crops are stored in the university. The agricultural university is continuously striving to convert single-crop areas into multi-crop areas, ensure food and nutritional security, and increase income and employment opportunities in rural areas. The Vice-Chancellor, scientists, students, and farmer brothers of the university deserve congratulations for all these achievements and excellent works. Their continuous efforts have given a new identity to farming in the state.
