Bilaspur. Former Excise Minister Kavasi Lakhma is lodged in Jail in the liquor scam case. Justice Arvind Verma heard a petition filed in the High Court for anticipatory bail. During this, the advocate of the petitioner presented his side, on which the court issued a notice to ACB-Eow seeking a reply. At the same time, the date of the next hearing has been fixed on 13 March 2025.
Explain that the petition of Kavasi Lakhma’s anticipatory bail has already been rejected in the Special Court of EOW. On behalf of former minister Lakhma, the lawyer accused him of implicating and harassing him in a false case, calling him innocent. At the same time, the ED was informed about not getting money and objectionable documents from his house during the raid, while the EOW had demanded to reject an anticipatory bail petition, accusing Kavasi Lakhma of taking a commission of Rs 50 lakh every month in the liquor scam in this case.
In the alleged liquor scam case, the ED produced former minister Kavasi Lakhma in the Special Court in Raipur on 21 January. After the remand ended, the court sent him to jail in judicial custody. During this, the ED counsel presented his argument in the court and said that Lakhma is not cooperating in the inquiry. In such a situation, he can be sent to jail. In the court, the ED counsel accused Lakhma that his name was associated with this liquor scam. In such a situation, it is necessary to cooperate with them in the investigation.
Lakhma is considered an important part of the syndicate
The ED alleges that former minister and current MLA Kavasi Lakhma was an important part of Syndicate. These helped the liquor syndicate. At the same time, the ED has also said that Kavasi Lakhma has an important role in changing the liquor policy, which led to the launch of FL-10 license in Chhattisgarh. Not only this, ED also said that Lakhma was fully aware of the scam being held in the Excise Department, but he did not consider it necessary to stop it. Due to this, he has been seen as an accused. Currently, Lakhma has approached the High Court through his advocate for his anticipatory bail plea. Now the next hearing will be held on 13 March.
