Bilaspur. The State and Division Team of the Excise Department took joint action and seized a container filled with 1000 boxes of English liquor. The price of this illegal liquor is being said to be more than one crore rupees. Investigation revealed that liquor was brought in the name of being sent from Goa to Bhutan. Actually it was planned to consume it in the election.
The Excise Department was informed that a large amount of illicit liquor was being brought in a container. On this basis, the team started checking by blockade in Chhatauna area of Bilaspur. During the search, 1000 boxes of English liquor were found from the container, which had no holograms. Initial investigation revealed that there was a plan to consume it in the local market.
The team also came to know in the investigation that ‘Jai Maa Lakshmi’ code was being used for delivery of alcohol. This code was used for identification between dealers, so that illegal liquor could be secretly launched in the market. According to officials, alcohol mafia have been using such codes for a long time.
During the operation, the excise team arrested the driver and delivery boy of the container. During interrogation, it was found that this liquor was being brought for Pankaj Singh and Jai Baghel. In addition, a fake permit from Goa to Bhutan was prepared to make liquor smuggling valid.
The Excise Department has started further investigation by taking seized liquor in its possession. Officials say that the consumption of such illicit liquor increases during the election, so the department is taking special vigilance. At present, the arrested accused are being questioned and other people associated with this network are being searched.
