In a significant recognition of their efforts, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah honored officials in New Delhi for their crucial roles in recent anti-Naxal operations. Shah acknowledged the historical success of these operations and reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate the Naxal threat. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma attended the ceremony.
Shah, through a social media post, expressed his gratitude and conveyed his anticipation of meeting the soldiers who contributed to the success of the operations and confirmed his impending visit to Chhattisgarh. The Minister highlighted that the operations were conducted under his guidance.
The operations, which took place in the interior areas of Abujhmad, involved forces from various districts including Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur. A major encounter on May 21, 2025, in Boter village forests led to the deaths of 27 Naxals, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju. Substantial quantities of weapons and ammunition were seized.
The honored officials included Chhattisgarh’s top police officers, such as Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam and others. Also present were top officials including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka.
