Raipur, February 19, 2025// The Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon 2025 is being organized to celebrate peace, fitness, community spirit, and the untouched beauty of Bastar. Preparations for this marathon are in full swing, with over 5,000 participants expected to take part. The Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon 2025 will be held on March 2nd in Narayanpur, aiming to provide a platform for local talent, promote physical health, and highlight the area’s natural beauty. With a large number of participants registered, this marathon has become a symbol of hope, unity, and change.
Abujhmad, known for its natural beauty and rich culture, has long been plagued by Naxal activities. This marathon attempts to change this perception, allowing people of all skill levels to participate with a sense of unity, competition, and mutual understanding. The marathon will include half marathon (21 km), 10 km, and 5 km categories, providing opportunities for athletes, first-time runners, and local talent. With a state-of-the-art timing system, pacers, medical support, and hydration stations, this event will be a memorable experience for all participants.
Marathon’s objective: A message of health, unity, and peace.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, describing the event as a symbol of hope, said that by bringing people together through the universal language of sports, we aim not only to promote physical health but also to deliver an important message of peace and unity. Abujhmad will now be recognized not for Maoism, but for the ability and talent of its people.
Promo Marathon: Growing enthusiasm with successful events.
Before the main event, the organizing committee held a 5-kilometer promo marathon on January 5th. The winners in the men’s category were Tijoo Pujari, Lakshman Poyam, and Birsingh Salam, while in the women’s category, Somrai Gota, Reena Uike, and Bhumika Devangan secured top positions. Following this, a 10-kilometer mini-marathon was held in Narayanpur on January 19th, attracting over 800 runners. In the men’s category, Purkeshwar Lal Deshmukh, Rassu Kores, and Budhram Kumeti secured top positions, while in the women’s category, Muskan Kushwaha, Bhumika Devangan, and Sonbai Gota were the winners.
Special facilities for participants.
Several arrangements have been made for the convenience of participants. Parking, accommodation, and food facilities will be provided. Aid stations will be set up along the route, providing drinking water, electrolyte drinks, snacks, fruits, and first-aid kits. Recovery/resting tents will also be set up for runners. Participants will receive real-time updates through a live tracking system, and the route will be clearly marked with LED indicators. Medical assistance stations will be available throughout the event to ensure the safety of participants. Experienced pacers will guide runners in each category, helping them maintain their pace and achieve their goals.
Some special events will also be held before the marathon. A “Jadoo Bastar” concert by “Band Dayara” will be held on February 28th. A grand drone show will take place on March 1st, along with an amazing performance by the Abujhmad Malkhamb team. Additionally, traditional dances, local art exhibitions, and other events showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bastar will also be organized. Along with the importance of sports, this marathon will bring the untouched beauty and potential of Abujhmad to national recognition and will contribute to the development of the region.
