Raipur, March 11, 2025/ With the aim of keeping alive the unique tribal culture and traditions of Chhattisgarh, the grand “Bastar Pandum 2025” is starting from March 12. In accordance with the wishes of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, this event seeks to preserve the rich folk art, customs, traditional lifestyle, and cultural heritage of the Bastar division and pass them on to the new generation. This festival will not only provide a platform for the talented artists of Bastar but also give their art new recognition and encouragement.
The Event Will Focus on 7 Major Disciplines
Competitions related to tribal dance, song, drama, musical instruments, traditional costumes and jewellery, crafts-painting, and tribal cuisine and traditional beverages will be organized in “Bastar Pandum 2025.” These competitions will be held in three stages. The Janpad level competition will be held from March 12 to 20, the district level competition from March 21 to 23, and the division level competition will be held in Dantewada from April 1 to 3. Special awards and certificates will be given to the participants at each level.
Grand Display of Bastar’s Folk Art and Traditions
In this festival, there will be a magnificent display of Bastar’s traditional dance styles, songs, customs, costumes, jewellery, and traditional dishes. The performance of the contestants will be marked based on originality, traditionality, and presentation. Community leaders, public representatives, and senior citizens will be invited as special guests to the event. A special committee has been formed for the selection of the winners of the competition, which will include administrative officers along with senior heads of the tribal community, priests, and experienced artists. This will maintain transparency in the competition and traditional folk art will get justice.
