The foundation of the Metro project was put together, but Bhopal has left Indore far behind in this matter. In Indore, where the work for the first phase of metro civil work was not even 10 percent, in Bhopal, the preparations for the second phase of metro civil work has started. Metro Rail Corporation officials said that the first civil work of the metro in the capital will be completed within six months. In this civil work, elevated route is being constructed for the Metro operation from AIIMS to Subhash Nagar. This work is being done under the 14.99 km route from Metro Purple Corridor (Line-2) AIIMS to Karond. Of the total length of the Purple Line, 14.99 km, 8.7 km route remains from Subhash Nagar to Karond. Tender is being prepared for doing civil work in this part. The Urban Development and Housing Department has also given a green signal to the Metro Rail Corporation. Officials said that the technical bit will be issued before the tender is issued. Many big companies of the country will participate in it. The Congress government had directed to speed up the work of the metro. After the letter from the Metro Rail Corporation, the district administration had also prepared a report on land allocation, encroachment, electricity and water pipeline. Now, the meeting of district administration, urban development department officials and corporation officials will be held soon to remove the identified obstacles. Nearly 24 meters of vacant land will be acquired for the underground metro station near the number six platform of Bhopal railway station.
