Balodabazar: Special efforts to provide relief to the weaker sections of society in Corona crisis

To save about 45 thousand destitutes
from the crowd of banks distributed relief amount of 4.50 crores, cash-in-house members distributed pension from house to house

In the lockdown period imposed due to Corona, the district administration has made special efforts to provide relief to the elders, disabled and destitute of the society. Apart from providing regular pension amount on time, 44 thousand 978 beneficiaries have also been benefited under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. About 4 crore 50 lakh rupees have been DBTed in his account in two installments of Rs. 5 thousand per beneficiary amounting to Rs. 1000. Being associated with the sensitive section of the society, he has been provided funds by visiting his village and home with the help of cash Sangwari.
During the lockdown period, on the one hand where the resources of movement were interrupted. Getting people to go to the bank and withdraw money was nothing short of a challenge. On the other hand, the cash Sangwari of the district has proved to be a lifeline for pensioners. 320 cash Sangwari is active in the district. Those who have gone from house to house of pensioners in this odd situation have paid cash of about 5 crore 60 lakhs. Due to this, the Divyang and Burjug pensioners have got relief from the hassles caused by the traffic and the long queues outside the banks. The cash Sangwari project of the district, which provides easy access to the pension service in the lockdown period, has also been appreciated at the Chief Minister’s Office and National level.
During the Corona period, the Divyang groups of the district should be equally active in spreading awareness under the protection of Social Welfare Department. Around 3500 masks were distributed free of cost to door-to-door, Anganwadi workers, grocery shopkeepers, vegetablemen, Kotwar, etc. in the village by stitching corona masks by fellow companions Divyang Group, Lahod, Annapurna Divyang Group, Latuva, Able Divyang Group, Tarashiva. In view of the superior quality of masks at the initiative of the department, more than 17000 masks have been procured by government departments from the Divyang Group, which has resulted in business of about 1 lakh 90 thousand of the groups. Director of the Divyang Group Shri Ram Patel says that with this kind of administration, the Divyang colleagues have got self-employment opportunities in times of crisis during lockdown period and have got self-sufficiency.
With the cooperation of local bodies and various social organizations, the Deputy Director Social Welfare has made arrangements for dry ration material and food packets for more than 1 lakh 70 thousand destitutes, needy and migrant workers. Among them, 212 PwDs and 46 third gender community people, who were packaged in 15 kg rice, 02 kg pulses, oil, soap, spices and green vegetables etc. were provided. During the corona period, under the National Family Assistance, 67 lakh rupees were disbursed through bank accounts to departmental schemes. Assistance of Rs. 6 lakhs was provided to 11 Divyang Navpattis under Disabled Marriage Promotion. Special care has been taken in ‘Vrithika’, the only old age home operated in the district keeping in mind the rapid infection of novel corona virus Kovid-19.
