Baghel turns heat on BJP in Naxal-hit Dantewada
With Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel addressing two public meetings, Congress on Monday launched its campaign for Dantewada by-polls. The public meetings were held at Metapal and Nakulnar of the assembly constituency.
Baghel in his speech came down heavily on previous BJP government for its “attitude towards Bastar.” The BJP government during their regime had only looted the poor tribals, the Chief Minister claimed. They constructed swimming pools and installed lifts in collectorate office from the fund meant for development of tribals, he said.
Citing welfare works launched by the Congress government, Baghel said they have returned land of tribals where a corporate sector failed to establish unit in stipulated time frame. Similarly, keeping in view that women and children here are malnourished the government launched ‘Suposhit Dantewada’, he said.
In previous government only two ministers were there in the Bastar Development Authority but the present government inducted Kawasi Lakhma, Lakheshwar Baghel, Vikram Mandavi, Santram Netam and PCC Chief Mohan Markam in it to take policy decision here itself, he said.
Baghel further appealed to the voters of Dantewada to vote in favour of Congress candidate in order to ensure development of the region.
Ministers Kawasi Lakhma, Amarjeet Bhagat and Umesh Patel also accompanied Baghel in the poll campaign.
