Volkswagen is implementing a new naming convention for its upcoming vehicles, integrating its established ICE car names into its electric ID. series. This strategy allows customers to easily identify and choose between petrol/diesel and electric versions of the same model. The first model to adopt this approach will be the Volkswagen ID. Polo, which was previously presented as the ID. 2all concept. The global launch of the ID. Polo is planned for 2026, alongside the ID. Polo GTI. Both models will make their debut at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, from September 8th to 14th. The design of the Volkswagen ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI is characterized by a stylish and modern aesthetic. Key design elements include colorful camouflage, sporty alloy wheels, prominent wheel arches, custom bumpers, a front diffuser, and a split spoiler on the tailgate. These vehicles will be built on the MEB Entry platform, with dimensions of 4,053mm in length, 1,816mm in width, and 1,530mm in height. While specific engine details are yet to be fully released, the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI are expected to feature a single electric motor and a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system, with a potential power output of around 223bhp. Volkswagen may also offer a Club Sport performance version in the future. In addition, Volkswagen will unveil the ID. CROSS concept on September 7, 2025. This concept represents an electric variant of the T-Cross SUV, with a market launch anticipated by the end of 2026. The new ID. series vehicles will feature enhanced interior quality with soft-touch materials, a blend of digital and physical controls, and an intuitive operating system.
