TVS is preparing to introduce a new electric scooter to its lineup, positioning it below the iQube. The new EV, most likely to be called the Orbiter, will be officially launched today, August 28th, according to TVS’s own announcements. This new model represents a fresh design, built to appeal to a broader audience compared to the iQube.
Details regarding the scooter’s specifications and features have been kept secret by TVS. However, reports indicate that the Orbiter will be a simple, cost-effective electric scooter, utilizing a hub-mounted motor.
The Orbiter is designed to be the introductory model in TVS’s EV range. Besides Orbiter, the company has also trademarked alternative names, including EV One and O.
Considering the existing iQube’s multiple variants, the Orbiter is likely to be available in various configurations. The iQube’s pricing starts at ₹1 lakh for the base 2.2 kWh model and goes up to almost ₹2 lakh for the top-end 5.1 kWh version. The Orbiter, positioned below, is expected to feature a smaller battery, less complex components, and a reduced feature set, making it more budget-friendly.
As electric vehicle adoption continues to grow, driven by government incentives, manufacturers like TVS are expanding their offerings with models at different price points to attract more customers.
