A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru became the scene of an unlikely predicament when a passenger found themselves trapped in the aircraft’s lavatory for the entire journey. The airline has acknowledged the issue, issuing an apology and offering compensation. The passenger was eventually released after the plane touched down in Bengaluru, with ground crew and engineers intervening to open the locked door.
The event transpired on a Monday night flight, which experienced a two-hour delay, departing Mumbai at 2:10 AM instead of the scheduled 10:55 PM. The passenger, seated in seat 14D, entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. The door malfunctioned, trapping the individual inside. Despite the crew’s efforts, the door remained locked. In response, the crew provided a handwritten note, slipped under the door, to comfort the passenger, instructing them to remain seated until the flight landed.
The note quickly circulated online, leading to widespread amusement and comments about the quality of the handwriting. The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM, and the lavatory door was subsequently opened by airport engineers. SpiceJet has since expressed its regret and apologized for the incident.
