Tesla is bolstering its foothold in India’s electric vehicle sector with the forthcoming launch of its second retail center. The new Tesla Experience Centre will be inaugurated on August 11 at the WorldMark 3 campus in Aerocity, Delhi. This strategically placed center aims to cater to customers in the National Capital Region (NCR), a significant area for India’s EV advancement.
This new center follows closely on the heels of the opening of Tesla’s inaugural showroom, which was launched on July 15 at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai. The Mumbai launch was marked by the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Chief Minister expressed his welcome to Tesla and extended an invitation to establish R&D and manufacturing units in the state. The Aerocity center is currently in its final stages of construction, with the monthly rent estimated at approximately Rs 25 lakh. Photos of the upcoming outlet have been shared on social media, showcasing the brand’s premium character. Tesla currently offers only the Model Y in India, with prices starting at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Model Y is offered in two variants: a Standard rear-wheel drive model with a 60 kWh battery and a 500 km WLTP-certified range, and a Long-range rear-wheel drive model featuring a 75 kWh battery with a range of up to 622 km. Tesla is initially focusing deliveries on major cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, providing direct home delivery via flat-bed trucks. Tesla has also updated its website to allow for vehicle registration in all states and union territories, broadening its operational scope. The Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is listed as an optional addition costing Rs 6 lakh on their website, although it is slated for a later release in India. The launch of the Model Y additionally coincides with the launch of Tesla’s India website, symbolizing the company’s commitment to expansion in India, notwithstanding the challenges associated with EV policies and infrastructure.
