Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the inauguration of the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to initiate local production of hybrid battery electrodes and the export of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, a global battery electric vehicle, to over 100 countries. The e-Vitara was initially showcased in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. The company, boasting an annual production capacity of 2.6 million units across four Indian plants, exported over 3.32 lakh vehicles and recorded 19.01 lakh domestic sales in FY25. The e-Vitara is poised to compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric. The e-Vitara will have a rear-wheel-drive module available on select trims, a feature absent from the Hyundai Creta. Recent reports indicate that the vehicle will use a 75 kWh battery pack, with all-wheel-drive functionality reserved for the Empowered trim. Moreover, the SUV will be equipped with a 12.3-inch freestanding screen and ADAS Level 2 safety features. The e-Vitara, Suzuki’s initial electric vehicle, incorporates ventilated seats, flexible boot space, and advanced features. Utilizing the HEARTECT-e platform, developed for EVs, the e-Vitara is powered by a 61 kWh Lithium-ion battery, tested in temperatures ranging from -30 °C to 60 °C, with an approximate range of 500 km. Expected pricing is detailed below.
