A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru saw a passenger enduring an uncomfortable journey, as they were stuck inside the lavatory for the duration of the flight. The airline has apologized and offered a refund to the affected passenger, but the bizarre event has become a talking point. The passenger’s rescue happened after the plane landed in Bengaluru, where ground staff and engineers successfully opened the locked door.
The event unfolded on a Monday night flight, which departed Mumbai at 2:10 AM, two hours behind schedule. The passenger, who was in seat 14D, entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. The door lock failed, trapping the passenger and leading to an unusual situation mid-flight. The passenger and crew members attempted to open the door but were unsuccessful.
To alleviate the passenger’s distress, the crew communicated through a handwritten note, slipped under the door, instructing them to stay put on the toilet seat until landing. The note’s image quickly spread online, drawing amusement from many users, who also complimented the neat handwriting. The flight landed in Bengaluru at about 3:45 AM. Airport engineers later intervened to unlock the door.
The airline expressed regret over the incident and has offered an apology to the passenger for the trouble.
