An extraordinary event unfolded on a SpiceJet flight bound for Bengaluru from Mumbai, where a passenger ended up spending the entire journey trapped inside the aircraft’s lavatory. The airline has expressed regret and offered a refund, but the unusual scenario has left many bewildered.
The passenger was finally assisted after the flight touched down at Bengaluru airport. Ground personnel and engineers swiftly intervened to open the locked toilet door, which had malfunctioned mid-flight.
The incident took place on a Monday night flight, which departed from Mumbai two hours behind schedule, at 2:10 AM, though it was slated to leave at 10:55 PM.
It began when a passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff and discovered the door lock was jammed. The crew attempted to resolve the issue, but the door remained stuck.
To console the distressed passenger, the crew slipped a handwritten note under the door, asking them to stay seated on the toilet until arrival in Bengaluru.
The photo of the note quickly went viral online. Many online users found the situation humorous while others commented on the penmanship.
The flight eventually landed in Bengaluru at approximately 3:45 AM. Immediately afterward, an engineer was able to open the door.
The airline has since issued an apology for the inconvenience.
