An embarrassing situation unfolded on a SpiceJet flight bound for Bengaluru from Mumbai when a passenger was confined to the aircraft’s restroom throughout the journey. The airline has issued an apology and offered a refund, but the incident has become a source of online amusement.
The passenger was only able to exit the lavatory after the flight landed at Bengaluru airport. Ground personnel and engineers were required to force open the malfunctioning toilet door.
The event took place on Monday night, on a flight that was delayed by two hours before taking off. The passenger, who was in seat 14D, entered the restroom after takeoff. The door lock jammed, trapping the individual inside.
The crew’s efforts to unlock the door were unsuccessful. In an attempt to assist, the crew slid a handwritten message under the door, urging the passenger to stay seated on the toilet until the plane landed in Bengaluru.
