The introduction of GST 2.0 has led to notable price reductions for a range of compact and subcompact sedans in India. These changes provide potential buyers with significant savings and an opportunity to reconsider their vehicle choices. Several popular models, including the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Verna, have seen substantial price drops.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, a leader in the subcompact sedan market, is now more affordable. The ZXi Plus AMT variant received the largest cut, with a reduction of ₹88,000. Other top variants also experienced price decreases of at least ₹80,000. This makes the Dzire an appealing and practical upgrade for those considering a hatchback, offering a larger boot and a sedan’s aesthetic at a reduced cost.
The Honda Amaze saw significant benefits with a price reduction of ₹1.20 lakh for its top ZX CVT petrol variant. Lower manual variants also saw cuts ranging from ₹80,000 to ₹90,000. The Amaze, already valued for its city-friendly nature and dependable performance, has become an even better value proposition. These changes may revitalize Honda’s sales figures.
The Tata Tigor, although often overlooked, has seen price cuts that draw attention. The XZ Plus CNG variant’s price was reduced by ₹81,000, with the petrol and automatic variants also becoming more affordable.
The Hyundai Aura, a feature-rich city sedan, also benefits from GST 2.0, with a ₹76,000 price reduction for its SX Plus AMT variant. Other CNG and manual variants were also reduced by ₹70,000 or more. The Aura, positioned between the Grand i10 Nios and the Verna, provides a balance between compact size and sedan practicality, a strength further emphasized by the new pricing.
The Verna, which competes in the premium compact sedan segment, also sees price cuts. The top SX (O) Turbo DCT variant is now ₹60,000 cheaper, and other high-end variants have also been reduced by over ₹50,000. The new prices could influence buyers’ perceptions of value when compared to competitors like the Honda City and Skoda Slavia.
