Rapido, a popular service for those using bike taxis and taxis for daily commutes, is now facing a ₹10 lakh fine due to misleading advertisements. These ads often promise attractive offers, but users have reported that the reality doesn’t match the claims, leading to dissatisfaction. The CCPA has stepped in to address these deceptive practices and has levied the fine.
The fine comes after numerous complaints about Rapido’s promotional tactics. The CCPA’s decision also includes an order for Rapido to provide refunds to affected customers. These issues stem from offers like the promise of autos within 5 minutes, guaranteed autos, and ₹50 cashback. While these advertisements are widespread, the actual experience of customers often falls short of these promises, leading to user frustration and complaints.
Further complicating matters, numerous complaints have been filed against Rapido since June 2024. A significant portion of these complaints remain unresolved. Users have accused Rapido of failing to provide timely rides and not delivering on cashback promises. Many complaints also relate to driver behavior and difficulties in obtaining refunds.
