A SpiceJet passenger endured an uncomfortable flight, unexpectedly spending the entire journey locked inside the lavatory of a Mumbai to Bengaluru flight. The airline has apologized and is said to have offered a refund, but the incident has become a source of online discussion.
The passenger was released after the plane landed in Bengaluru; ground staff and engineers intervened to unlock the door. The flight was delayed, taking off from Mumbai at 2:10 AM, two hours after its scheduled departure.
After the flight took off, the passenger in seat 14D was unable to open the lavatory door. The crew tried to assist but the lock was jammed. To alleviate the passenger’s distress, the crew slipped a note under the door asking them to remain inside until landing.
The arrival in Bengaluru was at around 3:45 AM. The door was subsequently opened by airport engineers. The airline has apologized for the inconvenience caused.
