A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru faced an unexpected situation when a passenger found themselves locked in the aircraft’s lavatory for the duration of the flight. The airline has issued an apology and reportedly offered a refund to the affected passenger. The incident, involving a faulty door lock, has generated considerable attention and amusement.
After the flight touched down in Bengaluru, ground staff were able to free the passenger from the lavatory. The flight had been delayed, ultimately departing Mumbai at 2:10 AM, although scheduled for 10:55 PM. The incident occurred when a passenger on seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff and was unable to open the door because of a jammed lock.
The crew attempted to assist but, when unsuccessful, opted to slip a handwritten message to the passenger through the door, asking them to stay calm and remain in the toilet until arrival in Bengaluru. The note circulated widely online, with many social media users finding the situation humorous. The flight landed in Bengaluru at approximately 3:45 AM. Airport engineers then opened the door, and the airline subsequently issued an apology for the passenger’s experience.
