Tata Motors has enhanced the Tata Punch EV, India’s top-selling electric car, with fast charging technology and fresh color schemes. The car will now be available in two new colors: Pure Grey and Supernova Copper. The most significant upgrade is the fast-charging capability, allowing the Punch EV to gain a 90 km range with just a 15-minute charge. This quick charging time is roughly equivalent to the time it takes to enjoy a cup of tea at a charging station.
The updated Tata Punch EV now supports fast charging, enabling it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes. According to Tata, the Punch EV can gain a 90-kilometer range in 15 minutes using a 50-kilowatt DC fast charger. However, this fast charging feature is exclusively available on the long-range variant.
**Battery and Performance**
The Punch EV offers two battery pack options. The mid-range version is equipped with a 25 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 265 km on a single charge. The long-range version boasts a 35 kWh battery, extending the range to 365 km on a single charge. The mid-range model features a single electric motor generating 80 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The long-range model, on the other hand, has a more powerful motor delivering 120 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. This electric SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 140 km/h.
**Feature Highlights**
The Punch EV is packed with advanced features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. It also includes a digital console, an air purifier, a 360-degree camera, and blind-spot monitoring, along with an electric sunroof. For safety, the car is equipped with 6 airbags, ESP, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and other safety features.
