The Renault Duster is preparing to re-enter the market, setting its sights on becoming a significant challenger to the Hyundai Creta. Manufacturing is scheduled to begin in September 2025, and the launch is anticipated during the initial half of 2026, potentially in the first three months. The arrival of a hybrid variant of the Renault Duster is also anticipated, planned for within a year of the standard petrol model’s debut.
Internationally, the vehicle is recognized as the Renault Boreal. A 7-seater model could be introduced by the conclusion of 2026 or during 2027. Note that this information is derived from media sources. Renault India has not yet released any official information concerning the launch of either the Duster hybrid or the 7-seater models. Moreover, Nissan intends to release its own models of the updated Duster and the 7-seater variant, with some unique characteristics.
The forthcoming Renault Duster’s engine options are a significant highlight. These will consist of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.0-liter or 1.3-liter turbo petrol engines, alongside a robust hybrid powertrain. In various global markets, the SUV is offered with a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine that generates 94 bhp. This variant incorporates two electric motors and a 1.2 kWh battery, which together offer a total output of 140 bhp.
A CNG version of the Renault Duster is also being considered. Reports indicate that the CNG option might not be directly provided by the company but could be installed through collaborations with firms like Minda Westport. Also, the possibility of an electric variant of the new Renault Duster is under assessment. With such a broad selection of engine choices, the new Duster is poised to provide strong competition to the Hyundai Creta, which plans to launch its hybrid version in 2027.
