Nissan has brought back the Leaf EV with a fresh design and a host of improvements. This move reinforces the brand’s focus on sustainable transportation and aims to restore the Leaf’s previous popularity. The new Nissan Leaf is slated for global distribution.
The Leaf’s new design takes on a fastback-like form with flush door handles, aero-tuned wheels, and a flat underbody. The vehicle is built on the CMF-EV platform, shared with other Nissan models. It will be offered with two battery choices, a 52 kWh and a 75 kWh battery pack. The official range for these battery packs is expected to be between 430 km and 600 km.
The new Leaf benefits from a three-in-one electric motor and a heat pump, enhancing the efficiency of the heating system. The interior has undergone a redesign, featuring a pair of 14.3-inch screens powered by a Google-based infotainment system. The car also incorporates semi-autonomous driving features and advanced driving technologies.
Nissan plans to manufacture the new Leaf at its Tochigi plant in Japan and its Sunderland facility in the UK. Considering Nissan’s plans to re-enter the Indian market, the Leaf could potentially be introduced in India.
