The Maruti Suzuki Victoris, a new SUV, has been unveiled, with its pricing and launch details expected soon. This vehicle is designed to compete with established models such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos within the Indian automotive market. A significant achievement for the Victoris is its 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, which assessed several variants including the ZXI+ Strong Hybrid eCVT, ZXI+(O) Strong Hybrid eCVT, and ZXI+(O) 6AT. The rating underscores the vehicle’s commitment to safety, especially given its inclusion of ADAS.
The Victoris is constructed on Suzuki’s modern Global C-platform, showcasing advanced features, and will be sold through Maruti Suzuki Arena outlets to reach a broad customer base. Maruti Suzuki aims to enhance its market presence in the Indian passenger vehicle sector by meeting the rising demand for utility vehicles. The SUV is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety technologies, including ADAS.
Key safety features include Safety Assist technology, which is standard across all Victoris variants. This includes features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection, side head protection airbags, and seatbelt reminders for all rows. The vehicle also offers advanced driver assistance systems.
In adult occupant protection, the Victoris received high marks, scoring 31.66 out of a possible 32. The frontal offset test resulted in a score of 15.66 out of 16, while the side impact test saw the car achieve a perfect score. The SUV also performed well in the side pole impact test. The standard safety equipment, including front airbags and side curtain airbags, contributed to the excellent results.
The Victoris also performed well in terms of child safety, scoring 43 out of 49 points. It achieved top scores in the dynamic assessment and demonstrated compatibility with CRS systems, highlighting robust child protection. Despite some areas needing improvement, the safety performance for child occupants was strong.
