Mid Life Cycles’ Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 salt racer has rewritten the record books, achieving a top speed exceeding 212.51 km/h. This accomplishment involved a complete overhaul of the standard Interceptor, converting it into a high-performance dragster designed for speed. The bike’s performance resulted in breaking the existing class record of four years. The record-breaking run reached 132.050 MPH, equivalent to 212.514 Km/h.
Rider Charlie Hallam demonstrated the bike’s impressive capabilities. The motorcycle’s development can be traced back to Royal Enfield’s Busted Knuckles build-off event in 2019. The modifications included a balanced crankshaft, enhanced gearbox for friction reduction, and modifications to the compression ratio requiring high-octane fuel. The engine received significant upgrades, including adjustments to the combustion chamber, valves, and camshaft. Additionally, the bike featured a longer swingarm, Ohlins suspension, lightened wheels, custom sprockets and clip-on handlebars.
