The MG Windsor EV, from JSW’s MG Motor India, has become a leading electric vehicle, achieving significant sales milestones. July 2025 saw the Windsor EV achieve its highest monthly sales with 4,308 units sold. This surge has pushed the total sales since its launch to over 36,000 units, cementing the company’s position in the market. Consequently, MG’s EV market share increased to 32% during the second quarter of 2025, a notable 4% rise from the previous quarter. The average sales of the Windsor also increased by 17% during this time, and the brand’s overall EV wholesale sales saw a 28% increase.
The design of the MG Windsor EV distinguishes itself from the current crossover designs, blending hatchback, MPV, and compact SUV features. It includes LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, and an illuminated MG logo at the front. The side profile showcases flowing lines, large windows, alloy wheels, and black-out pillars available on some trims, giving the car a floating roof appearance.
The rear of the vehicle is characterized by connected LED tail lights, a roof spoiler, and a raked rear window that contribute to its stylish design. The interior features a dark color scheme with accent details and a panoramic glass roof, enhancing its overall appeal. The price of the MG Windsor EV varies from ₹10 lakh to ₹13.10 lakh for the top-end Essence Pro, while the ex-showroom price for the Windsor EV range is between ₹14 lakh and ₹18.10 lakh. The cabin is fitted with many premium features, including ‘Aero Lounge’ seats that can recline up to 135 degrees.
The car’s central console features a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system for navigation and infotainment control. MG also provides a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option starting at ₹9.99 lakh, with a per-kilometer fee to reduce the initial cost. All models of the MG Windsor EV feature a 38 kWh battery pack, which provides a maximum power of 134 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. This configuration provides a range of up to 331 kilometers on a single charge. The Pro variant has a bigger 52.9 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 449 kilometers on a single charge, while maintaining the same power output.
The popularity of the Windsor can be attributed to its competitive pricing combined with premium features. Its affordable starting price and the BaaS option contribute to making EV ownership more accessible. The attractive cabin and reclining seats appeal to buyers, and the crossover design is ideal for families. This vehicle competes with models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 400, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Tata Curvv EV.
