Maruti Suzuki has launched the Victoris, a new mid-size SUV poised to challenge competitors in the crowded SUV market. Available in six trims – LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI(O), ZXI+, and ZXI+(O) – the Victoris is built on the Grand Vitara platform, sharing many features and the powertrain. However, the Victoris distinguishes itself with unique features and is sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealerships.
The Victoris enters the mid-size SUV segment, directly competing against established models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Toyota High Rider, and Volkswagen Taigun. This new SUV fits between the Brezza and Grand Vitara in Maruti Suzuki’s product lineup and will be exported to over 100 countries.
A key highlight of the Victoris is its hybrid powertrain, marking it as the first Arena model with a hybrid setup borrowed from the Grand Vitara. The hybrid system combines a 92 bhp, 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a total of 115 bhp and 141 Nm of torque. The Victoris is also offered with a 1.5-liter K15C petrol mild-hybrid engine producing 103 bhp, and a 89 bhp CNG engine option.
The strong hybrid powertrain is paired with an e-CVT gearbox, while the mild-hybrid and CNG variants come with a 5-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed torque converter automatic is also available on the mild-hybrid versions. A notable feature that differentiates the Victoris from the Grand Vitara is the underbody CNG tank fitment, a first for Maruti Suzuki in India, optimizing boot space.
Inside, the Victoris shares similarities with the Grand Vitara but incorporates segment-first and Maruti-first features to enhance its appeal. These include a premium Dolby Atmos audio system and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), making the Victoris the first Maruti Suzuki vehicle to offer both. It also features a powered tailgate.
The features list includes a 10.1-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient door lighting, leatherette seats, a sunroof, a 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster, rear AC vents, Suzuki connected car features, a head-up display (HUD), a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, a reverse parking camera, cruise control, ISOFIX mounts, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, ESP with hill hold, and more. The Victoris has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test, and is available in Eternal Blue and Mystic Green with dual-tone color options.
