Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce a new SUV in India to rival the Hyundai Creta. Although specific details remain limited, the company has announced the SUV’s launch date as September 3rd in the Indian market. A recent teaser from Maruti Suzuki showcased the new SUV’s full LED tail lamp design. The tail lamp design features a 3D appearance and a sleek brake lamp. Turn indicators are located on either side of the brake lamp. The design bears a resemblance to the Maruti Suzuki Swift’s tail lamps, but with enhanced styling. This new SUV represents Maruti Suzuki’s strategic move to strengthen its presence in the mass-market SUV segment. It is expected to share a platform with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara but will be positioned between the Grand Vitara and Maruti Suzuki Brezza in its lineup. The new SUV will be available through the Arena dealership network. This move indicates Maruti Suzuki’s aim to provide a product with broad appeal, and potentially surpass the Hyundai Creta in sales. The new SUV will likely incorporate existing powertrains from Maruti Suzuki. A 1.5-liter petrol engine capable of producing 101 bhp and 139 Nm of torque is anticipated, along with a petrol-CNG option. The new SUV could also offer a petrol-hybrid powertrain like the Grand Vitara. Maruti Suzuki has recently commenced production of lithium-ion batteries at its Indian facility. These domestically produced batteries may be used in the hybrid powertrains of both the Grand Vitara and the new SUV, which could help reduce the cost of the SUV.
