The upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUV, internally known as Y17, is set to launch on September 3, 2025, with the name Victoris. The name was revealed through an online leak from Maruti Suzuki’s official website, briefly appearing in Google search results. The new compact SUV is designed to appeal to the middle class with its competitive pricing.
Maruti Victoris SUV
The Victoris will be sold through Maruti Arena dealerships and will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara in the SUV range. Based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform, also used in the Grand Vitara, the platform sharing strategy is expected to reduce manufacturing costs. The Victoris will also feature several features already found in the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.
Competition for the Maruti Victoris SUV
Dimensionally, the Victoris is anticipated to be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, which is 4,345 mm long. This will place it in direct competition with the Hyundai Creta (4,330 mm) and Kia Seltos (4,365 mm). It will also face competition from forthcoming models such as the 2026 Kia Seltos facelift, Skoda Kushaq facelift, and Volkswagen Taigun facelift. The Victoris will aim to distinguish itself through its space, features, and price point, with the longer body potentially offering increased boot space.
Maruti Victoris SUV Engine
The Victoris will share its engine options with the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder, including a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 103 PS and 139 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, along with the Suzuki All Grip All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. A 1.5-liter strong hybrid powertrain generating 115.5 PS and coupled with an e-CVT gearbox will also be available. In a bid to broaden its appeal, the Victoris will also be offered in a CNG variant, producing 88 PS in CNG mode.
