As the festive season approaches, Maruti Suzuki and Renault India are preparing to launch new SUVs to boost sales. Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the Maruti Escudo, a mid-size SUV, while Renault will be updating its Kiger model.
The Maruti Escudo, launching on September 3, 2025, will introduce features previously unseen in Maruti vehicles, including Dolby Atmos audio and Level-2 ADAS. It will also feature a 4WD system. The new Escudo is expected to be based on the Grand Vitara platform, sharing its engine options which include a 1.5-liter petrol, a 1.5-liter strong hybrid, and a CNG variant.
Renault is also updating its Kiger subcompact SUV with a facelift. The updated Kiger will feature a refreshed design, including a new grille with the Renault logo, C-shaped taillamps, and a redesigned rear bumper. The engine options for the Kiger will remain the same: a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine. These engines will be paired with manual and automatic transmissions.
Both manufacturers aim to strengthen their presence in the SUV market with these upcoming launches. The Kiger will be one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs, while the Escudo is expected to offer advanced features in its segment.
