Mahindra’s August 2025 sales figures reveal a nuanced picture. Overall sales were nearly flat year-over-year, but segment performances diverged. While total sales reached 75,901 vehicles, the SUV segment witnessed a decline. Domestic SUV sales dropped by approximately 9% compared to the previous year. Market analysis suggests that uncertainties around Goods and Services Tax (GST) revisions have impacted SUV demand. Customers are seemingly delaying purchases until the final tax rates are declared. The commercial vehicle segment, however, proved to be a strong point for Mahindra. Sales in this category grew by 12%, reaching 32,954 units. Exports also showed positive momentum, increasing by 16%. The company is optimistic about the festive season’s potential to drive sales. Mahindra’s upcoming plans include the introduction of multiple new SUVs in the Indian market by the close of 2026. This includes facelifts of popular models like the Thar 3-door, XUV700, and Scorpio N, alongside the introduction of new electric and hybrid models. The updated Thar is expected soon, while the XUV700 and Scorpio N facelifts are slated for early 2026. The XUV 3XO may also be available with a hybrid powertrain.
