The arrival of Tesla in India has been marked by the delivery of its first Model Y in Mumbai. This event happened over a month after the opening of Tesla’s first showroom on July 15. The white Tesla Model Y was delivered to Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik at the ‘Tesla Experience Centre’ in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, as shown in a video. Minister Sarnaik expressed his delight in acquiring the Tesla, highlighting that he paid the full price. He intends to use the car to drive his grandson to school, aiming to increase public awareness of electric vehicles. Pricing details indicate that the RWD model begins at Rs 59.89 lakh, while the Long Range RWD is available at Rs 67.89 lakh. The minister’s son, Purvesh, shared their enthusiasm about owning the Tesla, planning to use it for daily family activities and acknowledging the positive trend of electric vehicles in India. He underscored the environmental benefits, such as zero emissions, and discussed the development of more charging infrastructure to support EV users.
