A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru saw an unusual event when a passenger was stuck inside the aircraft’s lavatory throughout the flight. The airline has issued an apology and offered a refund following the incident, which has left many online users astonished.
The passenger was released after the flight landed in Bengaluru. Ground staff and engineers were able to open the jammed toilet door upon arrival.
The incident occurred on a Monday night flight that was delayed by two hours. It was scheduled to depart at 10:55 PM, but took off at 2:10 AM.
A passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom shortly after takeoff, only to find themselves locked in due to a malfunctioning door lock. This resulted in a mid-air predicament.
Crew members attempted to open the door, but their efforts were unsuccessful. To alleviate the passenger’s distress, the crew passed a handwritten note through the gap in the door, asking them to remain calm and stay seated until landing.
The photo of the crew’s note went viral on social media. Many users found the situation comical and commented on the crew member’s handwriting.
The flight arrived in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. Soon after landing, airport engineers opened the door.
The airline has expressed regret over the incident and offered an apology to the passenger for the hardship endured.
