A passenger on a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru experienced an unsettling flight when they were stuck inside the lavatory for the whole journey. The airline has issued an apology and allegedly offered compensation. The bizarre situation has led to widespread incredulity and amusement.
The passenger was eventually released after the plane landed in Bengaluru. The ground crew and engineers were able to open the locked toilet door.
The incident happened on Monday night. The flight, which was originally scheduled for 10:55 PM, was delayed and took off at 2:10 AM from Mumbai airport. A passenger, in seat 14D, entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. They were unable to exit due to a jammed door lock, which created a mid-air predicament. The crew attempted to assist, but the door remained locked.
To alleviate the passenger’s anxiety, the crew passed a handwritten note beneath the door, asking the passenger to stay seated on the toilet until landing in Bengaluru. The note and the unusual circumstances became a viral sensation. The flight arrived in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. Engineers were able to open the door upon landing. The airline has offered its apologies for the incident.
