In response to increasing market competition, Honda is actively developing multiple energy platforms to accommodate the growing demand for hybrid vehicles. The company is focusing on a new multi-level Energy platform, joining the likes of Mahindra, Volkswagen, and Skoda. Honda’s forthcoming hybrid vehicles will be built on the PF2 modular platform. This versatile platform will accommodate hybrids, internal combustion engines (ICE), and electric vehicles (EVs), supporting the brand’s small and medium-sized vehicles for both domestic sales and export. Honda is prioritizing local production to keep costs down, with the anticipated price range for the new cars set between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. The initial release on the PF2 platform will be a new three-row SUV, slated for a 2027 debut, positioned above the Elevate, and designed to compete with rivals like the Kia Carens Clavis EV, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari. Furthermore, a sixth-generation City e-Sedan is in development, offering both petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options, with a projected launch in 2028. An additional all-new SUV, possibly powered by the Elevate’s 1.5-liter petrol engine, is also under consideration.
