A SpiceJet flight bound for Bengaluru from Mumbai was the scene of an extraordinary event as a passenger was inadvertently confined to the aircraft’s lavatory for the entire journey. The airline has offered an apology and a refund to the passenger, but the incident has left many bewildered.
After the flight landed at Bengaluru airport, the passenger was finally rescued. Ground staff and engineers swiftly responded, forcing the malfunctioning toilet door open. The incident occurred on Monday night, with the flight taking off from Mumbai airport at 2:10 AM, despite a scheduled departure time of 10:55 PM.
Shortly after takeoff, a passenger in seat 14D entered the lavatory. They were unable to exit due to a jammed door lock, triggering a mid-air emergency. Despite the passenger’s efforts and crew intervention, the door remained sealed. The crew then wrote a note and slipped it under the door to reassure the passenger. The message advised them not to panic and to remain in the toilet until the plane landed. The note quickly circulated online, creating widespread amusement. The plane landed in Bengaluru at approximately 3:45 AM. The door was subsequently opened by the ground staff and the airline extended an apology.
