Citroen has launched the C3X SUV in India, targeting the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite. The vehicle starts at ₹7.91 lakh ex-showroom. This launch is part of Citroen’s strategy to increase sales. The C3X is based on the standard Citroen C3, but offers more features and is marketed as an SUV, unlike the C3, which was positioned as a ‘hatch with a twist’.
The C3X is available at a starting price of ₹7.91 lakh ex-showroom for the naturally aspirated manual variant, and the price goes up to ₹9.89 lakh ex-showroom for the turbo automatic version. Customers can add the HALO 360-degree camera system. Bookings are open, and deliveries are scheduled to commence in early September 2025. The C3X will compete with the Hyundai Exter and Maruti Fronx in the Indian market.
The C3X comes with two petrol engine options. The first is a 1.2-liter PureTech 82 naturally aspirated engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The second is a 1.2-liter PureTech 110 turbocharged engine, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Citroen claims the turbo variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds and offers fuel efficiency up to 19.3 km/liter.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, TPMS, a high-speed alert, and a parametric alarm. The C3X also features the Citroen Advanced Comfort Suspension, designed for Indian roads, promising a smooth ride.
The C3X has 15 new features compared to the C3, including passive entry with proxy sensors, push start system, hands-free access, cruise control with speed limiter, HALO 360-degree camera system, auto-dimming IRVM, LED projector headlamps, LED projector fog lamps, LED DRLs, and LED interior lighting. The cabin also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a tropicalized automatic AC. Additionally, the car offers a rear USB Type-C charging port and a 315-liter boot space.
