Citroen India has launched the Basalt X, a new variant designed to bolster its vehicle offerings. The Basalt X, priced from ₹12.90 lakh, incorporates enhanced features and design updates. The Basalt X is available with different engines and trim levels. The interior of the new Basalt X features a refreshed dashboard layout. The top-tier trim includes a new dual-tone color scheme of beige and black, crafted from premium materials.
This model is equipped with all-LED headlamps, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a perimeter alarm system, and the new Cara in-car assistant. Cara offers voice command functionality, assisting with navigation, service history, route selection, and point-of-interest tasks. Citroen also plans to increase its dealership network from 88 to 150 locations.
The Basalt X U variant, powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine, has a starting price of ₹7.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Plus variant, available with a 1.2-liter petrol engine or a 1.2-liter petrol turbo engine, is priced at ₹9.42 lakh and ₹10.82 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. The top-spec Max+ variant of the Citroen Basalt X, which offers a 1.2 petrol turbo engine with manual and automatic transmissions, is priced at ₹11.62 lakh and ₹12.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Citroen Basalt X includes cruise control, an engine start/stop button, and a leather-finished dashboard. The SUV also features keyless entry, an optional 360-degree camera, and a new Garnet Red exterior paint option. Additional features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The vehicle will directly compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Vitara.
The Basalt X incorporates a 7-inch color TFT digital display, automatic climate control, and wireless charging. Safety features comprise six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ESP, a tire pressure monitoring system, and more. The Citroen Basalt X is powered by a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 108 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque, paired with a manual gearbox. The automatic transmission configuration boosts torque to 205 Nm.
