Yamaha’s popular FZ series may soon get a hybrid variant, as indicated by recent patent filings in India. The new model is expected to be a 149cc hybrid, building on the success of Yamaha’s hybrid Ray Z scooter. The move aims to make hybrid technology more accessible to a wider customer base. The new FZ hybrid could be priced more affordably, possibly by omitting certain premium features such as the TFT instrument panel and some design elements. The current hybrid FZ model is priced at Rs 1.45 lakh. The bike will have a 149cc blue core engine with a starter motor to support a start-stop system, improving fuel efficiency and performance. The bike will likely benefit from battery assistance for improved acceleration. The start-stop system is designed to enhance fuel economy by automatically shutting off the engine when stationary.
