America officially separated from World Health Organization

The US has announced to withdraw from the organization after threatening to stop the financial aid of $ 450 million to WHO annually. The Trump administration has sent a notice to the UN Secretary General regarding this.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday officially issued a notice to the United Nations about the process of separation from the World Health Organization. America has been giving the most annual financial help to this UN organization. Trump has questioned the role of the WHO many times over the Corona virus and has even accused him of leaning towards China.

However, America’s withdrawal from WHO will not take effect until next year. This means that it can be canceled by the new administration or the circumstances may change. Former Vice President Joe Biden has said that if he wins the election, he will reverse this decision on the very first day of his term.

Trump had announced the separation of the US from the WHO in May. He has already harshly questioned the role of WHO as a “puppet of China”. Criticism of this move of Trump administration has also started. Health officials and critics say that American reputation will be damaged globally.

Biden has said that if he wins the election in November, he will join the WHO again. He said, “Americans are safe when America continues to strengthen global health.” On my first day as President, I will rejoin the country in the WHO and restore our leadership on the world stage. ”

Trump has been constantly criticizing China and the WHO over the Corona virus epidemic in the wake of the November elections. With the passage of time, trumps are becoming more aggressive towards China and WHO.

The US State Department says it wants the WHO to continue to improve. Recently, Trump had said that the WHO has failed to make necessary reforms even after his request. So they will end their relationship. A spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that he is in the process of verifying information from the WHO as to whether the US is meeting all its conditions of separation.

The US has to fulfill its financial obligations to the WHO as per the separation rule. The US has been providing the most financial aid to the WHO. Every year he funds WHO more than $ 450 million. At present, the liability of the US is about $ 200 million, which includes current and past dues. On May 29, just two weeks after warning the WHO, Trump asked the WHO to make amends or lose US support. Trump has been saying that if the WHO had taken the right step at the beginning of the corona virus, there would not have been so much destruction around the world.
