Srinagar: The Amarnath Yatra has been canceled in 2020 in view of the coronavirus epidemic. This information came from the statement released on Tuesday from Raj Bhavan. The statement said that the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has decided with great sadness that it is not right to organize and conduct the Amarnath Yatra this year.
According to the statement, “The board respects the sentiments of millions of devotees. To maintain the religious sentiments, the board will telecast the Aarti in the morning and evening. In addition, the traditional rituals will be performed as before. The facility will also be provided by the government. “
SASB President Lt. Governor Girish Chandra Murmu chaired the 39th board meeting on Tuesday, in which the members discussed about organizing the yatra through video conferencing.
The board discussed the order of the Supreme Court of 13 July, in which the decision to have the yatra was left to the administration / government after taking stock of the situation in Corona in the state.
“The board was told that the arrangement is on track since February 2020, but due to the epidemic, the state executive committee has decided to keep the shrines closed continuously. The ban will continue till July 31,” the statement said.
