Responding swiftly to the increased passenger volume triggered by numerous IndiGo flight cancellations, Indian Railways has introduced 116 extra coaches across 37 trains. These augmented services will run for 114 enhanced trips, ensuring greater travel availability. Southern Railway has been at the forefront of these efforts, enhancing capacity on 18 trains with additional chair car and sleeper class coaches, particularly on routes experiencing high demand. These improvements, in effect since December 6, 2025, significantly improve travel convenience in the southern part of the country. Northern Railway has also boosted capacity by adding 3AC and chair car coaches to eight trains, addressing the robust passenger movement in its operational areas. Western Railway has reinforced four important trains with 3AC and 2AC coaches, supporting the flow of travelers towards the capital. In addition to these coach augmentations, Indian Railways is operating four special train services. These include a special service between Gorakhpur and Anand Vihar Terminal, a Vande Bharat special connecting New Delhi to Jammu, and superfast specials for the New Delhi-Mumbai and New Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram routes, providing essential connectivity.
