A grand State Dinner at Rashtrapati Bhavan marked the conclusion of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to India, with President Droupadi Murmu as host. The menu was exclusively vegetarian, designed as a Thali to immerse the Russian delegation in the depth and breadth of India’s culinary heritage. Guests embarked on a flavor expedition featuring dishes crafted with traditional Indian ingredients and refined techniques. The starters offered a regional spectrum, commencing with Murungelai Chaaru, a South Indian Rasam, followed by Gucchi Doon Chetin, delectable morels stuffed with Kashmiri walnuts. Kaale Chane Ke Shikaampuri, seasoned black gram patties, and Vegetable Jhol Momo, Himalayan-style dumplings, were also part of the initial offerings. The main course leaned towards North Indian flavors, presenting Zafrani Paneer Roll, rich spinach and fenugreek curry (Paalak Methy Maataar Ka Saag), stuffed potatoes (Tandoor Bharwaan Aloo), pickled eggplant (Achari Baingan), and Yellow Dal Tadka. Accompanying these were fragrant Dry Fruit and Saffron Pulao and a selection of artisanal Indian breads including Lachcha Parantha and Magaz Naan. The sweet finale featured Badam Ka Halwa and Kesar-Pista Kulfi, complemented by a refreshing juice mix of pomegranate, orange, carrot, and ginger. The event also celebrated cultural ties, with a special musical performance blending Indian classical music with Russian folk tunes.
