Senior citizens at the Koderma old age home received dedicated legal awareness and medical check-ups at a special camp organized by the District Legal Services Authority. This event, held in compliance with directives from the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, focused on empowering the elderly with crucial information and healthcare services.
During the program, attendees virtually observed an inauguration ceremony in Ranchi for the Mother Teresa Clinic at an old age home. The ceremony also marked the distribution of medical aid and benefits under various welfare schemes for the elderly residing there, underscoring a statewide focus on senior care.
Balkrishna Tiwari, the Principal District and Sessions Judge and head of the District Legal Services Authority, addressed the gathering, stating that respecting senior citizens is a fundamental ethical obligation for everyone. He reassured the residents that the authority is committed to protecting their rights and ensuring their fundamental freedoms are upheld. Judge Tiwari added that progress and respect are intertwined, and honoring elders is a source of pride for the authority.
He encouraged the younger generation to value the wisdom and guidance of their elders and to be attentive to their needs. Gautam Kumar, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, reiterated the authority’s commitment to offering free legal assistance to protect the rights and interests of senior citizens. He pledged to provide maximum support to enhance the quality of life for those in the old age home.
Medical examinations were conducted for all elderly residents by the Koderma Health Department. The Principal District Judge directed the medical team to maintain a schedule of regular health assessments and ensure the availability of medicines. He personally interacted with the residents, assessing their condition and reviewing the facility’s arrangements. Essential supplies, including warm clothing, blankets, shawls, caps, and sweets, were distributed to the residents through a collaborative effort between the District Legal Services Authority and the District Administration.
