BJP leader Babulal Marandi has leveled serious allegations against the Jharkhand government, claiming it is fabricating new criminal cases to obscure ongoing illegal activities. He asserts that the state government and its systems have adopted the practice of inventing crimes to hide actual wrongdoings. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations into the coal mafia’s extensive operations in Dhanbad have brought forth disturbing revelations. A particularly concerning aspect is the alleged directive from high-ranking police officials, purportedly enriched by illicit coal revenue, to silence ‘ground-level operatives’ of the coal mafia permanently. This move is reportedly aimed at preventing these individuals from divulting crucial information during ED interrogations. There are credible reports suggesting that those being questioned by the ED are themselves being targeted for elimination to maintain secrecy. Marandi highlighted that staging ‘evidence encounters’ to eliminate witnesses is not a new tactic in the state. He recalled a former Director General of Police facing accusations of facilitating contract killings and record-breaking corruption, allegations even supported by members of the ruling party. He emphasized the need for the ED to be exceptionally vigilant, as the prevailing environment prioritizes concealing the truth over exposing it. When political power, administrative machinery, and organized crime converge, the undermining of justice becomes inevitable.
