In a momentous ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled a saffron flag atop the grand Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, marking the final phase of its construction. The auspicious occasion coincided with Vivah Panchami, celebrating the sacred wedding of Lord Ram and Mata Sita. The event was attended by prominent figures including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
Speaking to the assembled devotees and dignitaries, PM Modi declared, “Centuries-old wounds are healing today.” He added, “The nation and the world are immersed in devotion to Lord Ram. Every Ram bhakt’s heart is filled with deep satisfaction, immense gratitude, and divine joy.” He emphasized the fulfillment of a 500-year-long aspiration of countless devotees.
The striking saffron flag, measuring 10 feet by 20 feet, prominently displays a sun symbol signifying Lord Ram’s radiance, the Kovidara tree, and the ‘Om’ mantra. PM Modi elaborated on its symbolic importance: “This dharma-dhwaj is not just a flag; it is a representation of the resurgence of Indian civilization. Its colors and symbols reflect the glory of Ram Rajya, embodying resolve, victory, and the realization of ancient dreams.”
He further articulated the flag’s moral imperatives: “This flag inspires us to honor our commitments, even in the face of adversity. It promotes a duty-bound existence and envisions a society free from discrimination, suffering, and fear, paving the way for universal peace and harmony.”
The temple complex highlights devotion through various shrines like the Sapt Mandir, Mata Shabari temple, and Nishadraj temple, symbolizing love and friendship. Sculptures depicting Jatayu and a squirrel serve as reminders of how even small contributions are vital to large endeavors. The complex also features shrines dedicated to esteemed sages, ensuring a rich spiritual experience for all visitors.
PM Modi urged Indians to cast off mental subjugation and embrace self-sufficiency. “Lord Ram’s presence is felt in every Indian home and heart. By strengthening our resolve, we can overcome mental barriers and achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047,” he asserted, calling for a departure from colonial influences.
Ayodhya is rapidly transforming into a hub of modern development while respecting its ancient heritage. “The beautification of Ayodhya is progressing, creating a city where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously along the Saryu River.” The temple has drawn over 45 crore visitors since its consecration, significantly boosting the local economy. Twenty-first-century Ayodhya is setting new standards for urban planning and heritage preservation.
The flag-hoisting ceremony is seen as the conclusion of a monumental, 500-year spiritual undertaking. “This marks the healing of ancient wounds and the fulfillment of a five-century-old vow. It signifies the end of a long yajna and the beginning of a new era of cultural revival and spiritual enlightenment,” PM Modi stated, underscoring India’s deep-rooted heritage.
Reflecting on Lord Ram’s teachings, PM Modi observed, “Lord Ram connects through devotion, irrespective of caste. He prioritizes righteousness over birth, collaboration over might, and integrity over wealth. These are the values we continue to embrace as we advance together.” Ayodhya is poised to become a global model, integrating ethical principles with modern progress.
