Babulal Marandi, the state president of the BJP and Leader of the Opposition in Jharkhand, has accused the ruling government of actively fabricating crimes to mask its involvement in illicit activities. Marandi asserted that the current administration and its associated systems are resorting to creating new offenses as a diversionary tactic. The ongoing ED investigation into the deep-rooted coal racket in Dhanbad has reportedly unearthed significant evidence. A particularly concerning development is the alleged instruction from influential police officers, enriched by the coal trade’s black money, to permanently silence foot soldiers of the coal mafia. The objective, it is believed, is to prevent any incriminating information from reaching investigators.
Sources indicate that attempts are being made to eliminate witnesses who are cooperating with the ED, thereby obstructing the investigation. Marandi drew parallels to previous incidents in the state where staged encounters were used to eliminate evidence and silence individuals. He referenced a past DGP against whom serious allegations of taking contracts for killings and unprecedented corruption were made, even by members of the ruling party. The opposition leader warned the ED to be highly vigilant, noting that in Jharkhand, those who conceal the truth often thrive. When political power, law enforcement, and organized crime converge, the perversion of justice is almost inevitable.
