A devastating suicide bombing and gun attack has claimed the lives of at least three people at the Frontier Constabulary headquarters in Peshawar. The brazen assault occurred Monday, with attackers targeting the force’s primary complex, located near a military cantonment in a heavily populated district. The operation involved multiple assailants, including two suicide bombers who detonated their explosives. One bomber struck at the main entrance, while the second managed to penetrate the facility grounds. Authorities have secured the area and are engaged in ongoing operations, with suspicions that some militants may remain inside. Pakistan’s security forces, including the Federal Constabulary (formerly Frontier Constabulary), are under immense pressure due to a significant rise in militant activity, especially in the northwestern provinces. The country has witnessed a worrying increase in violence since the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire in late 2022, explicitly targeting law enforcement and military personnel. This attack follows other recent deadly incidents, such as a car bomb explosion in Quetta and a suicide attack on a political rally, highlighting a worsening security situation.
