This annual report, developed by Resonance Consultancy and Ipsos, evaluates cities on a trifecta of essential qualities: prosperity, lovability, and liveability.
London’s persistent dominance stems from its excellence in these areas, notably its high marks for being both loved and liveable. The city continues to be a beacon for global citizens seeking opportunities and a high quality of life.
The elite group of top 10 cities includes London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Madrid, Singapore, Rome, Dubai, Berlin, and Barcelona. Asian representation within the top tier comes from Tokyo at fourth and Singapore at sixth.
From India, Bangalore stands out, securing the 29th position globally. Celebrated as India’s “Silicon Valley,” this technological powerhouse is gaining significant international acclaim. Following Bangalore’s lead, Mumbai is ranked 40th, Delhi 54th, and Hyderabad 82nd.
This extensive study encompassed over 270 cities worldwide with populations surpassing one million. The assessment included a wide array of metrics, from educational and cultural offerings to infrastructure, safety, and healthcare. The ‘Place Power Score,’ derived from liveability, lovability, and prosperity, reaffirms London’s status while highlighting Bangalore’s ascent as India’s foremost global contender.
